OUR STORY

In  1994, Children First Medical Group, Inc. (CFMG) was formed as a California professional corporation functioning as an Independent Physician Association (IPA).  An IPA is just a legal entity, a business structure.  Importantly, it is owned, governed and operated by the pediatricians and pediatrics specialist invested in our community and our community’s health care delivery system. While the IPA serves critical business purposes for our physicians, more importantly it is the organized vehicle through which we can express our mission for our community, out vision of who we should be, and the values that we will practice.  

CFMG has grown to become a comprehensive pediatric network offering primary care and pediatric specialty care.  The pediatric specialist physician members of CFMG are hospital-based at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Mission Bay, and Stanford Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto, and are also in outlying clinics in Emeryville and Walnut Creek. Our community-based primary care pediatricians are located throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

In addition to our core mission to serve the most medically complex and socioeconomically vulnerable children in our communities, CFMG pediatric specialists also serve as the preferred pediatric referral networks for many other medical groups and regional IPA’s.
